Developer Supergiant Games' 2020 roguelike Hades will be getting a sequel. It's an ambitious move that raises the stakes, while also offering more insight into the politics of family.

This system of permanent upgrades is found throughout each run. Melinoe can craft new spells and improve her Nocturnal Armor and Weapons. Melinoe can also gather items from the Crossroads Camp for future runs and unlock weapons, boons and other tools.

Another great addition is the addition of more open regions that offer different routes through each area and an ever-changing setting to explore. Each region has its own unique perspective on the Underworld. Some are more accessible than others, Oscar Reys but all offer unique challenges that distinguish them from other roguelites.

Supergiant has also tweaked the gameplay in the early-access version. This reduces some of the work required to obtain certain upgrades, and makes it easier to move between areas. There's plenty of work to be completed before the game hits its full release, but the studio has made clear that it's determined to maximize player feedback and keep working to bring Hades 2 to a perfect state.

Supergiant has a reputation for listening to its customers and addressing any issues that come up, which is evident in the way it's handled the early access release of Hades 2. Even though it's a long time before the full version becomes available Hades 2 already feels like an appropriate addition to your gaming shelf.

3. Hades 2 Beta
