The Best Self-Empting Robot Vacuum Bagless Cleaners

The customers who love this robotic vacuum cleaner say it is powerful enough to handle pet hair dust, dirt and dirt on all types of floors. It features a three-stage clean system and can be controlled via an intelligent speaker or mobile app.

It's expensive however, this upgrade to a standard robot vacuum is worth it for some. It has a large bin that needs to be emptied every 30 to 60 days.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO features two flexible multi-surface brushes made of rubber. It is designed to eliminate all kinds of debris from bare floors. It performs very well on hard floors and is great for sweeping up dust and larger particles however it is a little shaky with pet hair. It can also blow things like Kitty litter or kosher salt out of its way, which requires a second pass to pick up.

The device features a Clean/Power Button in the middle, and Home and Spot Cleaning buttons on either side. The light ring around the Clean/Power button is solid white when the battery is charged, blinks red when the battery is empty and glows blue when searching for its Clean Base or in Dirt Detect mode (more on that below).

When the room's cleaning is complete and the robot returns to its base, docking and emptying its dustbin inside the Clean Base for bagless self-emptying vacuums. You can also manually empty the bin when it's filled, but that takes time and will require you to take the bin off and clean its filter.

This robot was able to perform well on carpets and hard floors in our tests. Its mapping system for smart is better than most other systems, as it can store multiple maps and support many functions, including a customized and scheduled cleaning. It does not allow you to create Keep-Out Zones or clean specific rooms, which is essential for homes with more than one floor. You might consider the Roborock Q5+, which provides smart mapping that is superior and offers more options for customization via its app.

2. Shark Matrix

Shark, one half of the home appliance conglomerate SharkNinja, is a relative newcomer to the robotic vacuum market. However, the company has risen quickly in popularity thanks to its a broad selection of affordable robots with relatively premium-grade quality of construction. The Matrix is their most popular model. It's a powerful home-cleaner with amazing suction and clever features.

The Shark Matrix comes with a self-emptying station that automatically empty the bag after each clean, saving you from the inconvenience of changing it manually. Like all Shark robots that are available, the Matrix can be set to run according to a set schedule or remotely activated by voice commands to provide hands-free convenience. It also uses cliff sensors to ensure that it doesn't fall off the steps and optical encoders to measure how far it has cleaned.

The Matrix is a great option for those looking for a mid-range robotic vacuum. It may not have the sophisticated vSLAM map of the Roomba S9 but it still offers a lot. Its cleaning pathing is efficient, even on carpeted floors and it provides a decent amount of dirt removal on all surfaces. It also has a slightly more powerful cleaning head than the S9 and comes with a self-cleaning toothbrush roll that's ideal for hair of pets.

The only drawback is that Shark's application can be a bit slow and unreliable especially when used in conjunction with the robot. The iRobot HOME application, on the contrary, is unquestionably more intuitive and reliable.

3. iRobot i3 Roomba

The Roomba i3 is our favorite robot vacuum model that is bagless auto-vacuums due to its impressive performance on bare flooring and high-quality construction. It is sturdy and solidly built. maneuvers itself neatly around obstacles, and is able to recharge quickly. It also has a large dustbin that can be easily empty.

This model doesn't have an upper mounted camera that can recognize items or search for features that are unique. Some of its premium models do. Instead, it utilizes downward-facing optical sensors to detect obstacles when they arise and creates an outline of your floor plan as it goes through cleaning cycles and also pays attention to internal sensors like gyroscopes and wheel odometers. iRobot's Genius update -- which includes smart mapping without increasing the price of the robot--allows you to instruct it to clean specific areas by using the iRobot Home app or your voice assistant.

The app or docking station can trigger the Roomba to empty its internal dustbin and place it in the larger bin. The docking station communicates with the robot using beacons, ensuring that they are in close proximity before it starts cleaning.

You can also make use of the iRobot app to schedule cleanings, or your voice assistant to perform a spot-clean of any area that needs a quick fix. The dual rubber brushrolls are designed to remove pet hair, dirt and other clumps of debris. With its reactivity sensor technology it is not necessary to manually adjust the height of the head or suction strength. Check out the Shark iQ Plus and Roborock S6 maxV if your preference is an even more customized experience.

Roomba from iRobot

This vacuum cleaner is among the top in terms of self-emptying. It has a dirt container that automatically empties when full into the base of the robot. It also uses its own Dirt Detect technology to help it identify the most filthy areas of the room and clean them more thoroughly. Its dual multi-surface rubber brush flexes to adapt to your floor to loosen and take away stubborn dirt. This is coupled with a powerful suction which picks up and retains dirt and dust, and a mopping solution tank that releases liquid to effectively clean your floors.

It's a great option for floors with no carpet and can be used in small amounts of carpet with a low pile. It doesn't remove pet hair as efficiently as other models, and it may struggle to handle bulky items like cereal when the dirt container gets full. It is also a bit sluggish in its movement and can get caught up in things such as rug tassels or electrical cords. Its battery life is decent and it charges pretty quickly, though.

The iRobot Combo i5 takes things to the next level with the ability to mop. The robot can be immediately transformed into a multi-surface mop/vacuum robot by simply swapping in the included Roomba Combo cleaner bin. It navigates rooms in neat rows and can be guided by the iRobot app or via voice commands when paired with smart assistant devices.

It does a better job at cleaning bare floors and carpets with low pile than iRobot Roomba E5 and has an allergen-trapping HEPA filter. However, it's not as smart as the Shark AI Robot and has more components that must be maintained regularly. It is more durable and has longer battery life but it also costs more to operate.

5. iRobot Roomba i7

The Roomba i7 has one very unique feature that we don't find in other robot bagless self-navigating vacuums: an automatic dirt disposal system that is integrated into its base. When docked, a hose on the Clean Base automatically suctions debris from the bin into a bag that is exclusive to Smart Maps by iRobot. It's a simple, clean method to empty the robot vacuum's bin. You don't have to lift the bin and let it move around (which can lead to small dust explosions). But, it does add just a little operating cost to owning this best-rated model. You'll have to replace the bag each time it gets full. They're inexpensive, however you might be hesitant about to throw them to the trash.

You can begin cleaning your space right away after you have paired the i7+ to its Clean Base, or you can instruct it to perform a few exploratory training runs without vacuuming first, to create a floor plan. Once you have a map of the space, you can use iRobot's app to label rooms and create virtual barriers. You can also set the time for cleaning specific to certain rooms.

The i7+ is a premium robot vacuum self empty bagless vacuum. While it's very capable and offers all the features you could want in the home automation space however, it's an expense that is difficult to justify for the majority. The competition is cheaper and includes the likes of the Roborock S7, which feels more sturdy, incurs lower cost of operation and has a longer runtime, and is more effective on floors that are not clean than the i7+. We suggest that you consider a different option unless you're absolutely determined to have a map of your house that is always up-to date.
